The first days of school are vital to your success. These simple solutions should help you organize your classroom and give you a head start to good classroom management. Feel free to alter them to fit your needs.
In my Orientation notebook, I have my Class Rubric: This is just a Poster I had designed to hang in my room. Because I use Rubrics for most of my grading, the students understand it's meaning. It is the Rubric for how to make a 100% conduct grade in class.
The first day of full class, I have my students watch a Class Procedures video that I create every year. I will type out everything they need to know to be successful in my class (Script). I use that script as the narration of the video showing them what I am saying. You can also create a Powerpoint that is similar that they can watch individually or you can show it to the entire class at one time. I have them save it to their desktop and if there is a problem later on, I refer them to that video and make them come in during tutorials to rewatch it...I know, I'm a meanie. Here is a sample Procedure PowerPoint Show that you can use as a template to get you started.
